My Monty Python post as "Advent meditation" was a joke.
You see, my step son belongs to a cult in the "prosperity gospel" ilk, which says if you do the right thing, God will reward you...

The paradox about God is that stuff we think is awful (sickness, death, going broke, getting fired, etc.) may turn out to be the best thing for our own spiritual growth...

The lesson is: All things work for the good for those who love God and hold to His purpose"....

So the Monty Python skit is very very funny, because all the greatest of the warrior knights are killed for not answering a simple question right...

And it's the King, who knew a piece of trivia, who wins...

If one takes the "joke" concretely, it means that little Wart was stuck memorizing useless information in school, like the names and characteristics of various birds...and at the time, he did not know this trivia would save his life...

Similarly, sometimes something minor we do ends up having a huge effect for good or evil in our later life....

But we might not realize it until we hit heaven...
